Created in 1920 by Martin Gaertner, the Restaurant « Aux Armes de France » has made the reputation of the Gaertner Family.
Pierre GAERTNER, graduate of the école hotelière de Strasbourg (Hotel
School), successively worked at Restaurant L’Aubette (Strasbourg),
Benoit Perrat (Vonnas), hotel "Alexandra” (Nice), and with Fernand
Point at “Pyramide” (Vienne).
The family business was completely destroyed in 1945 and 1947. The
restaurant was later rehabilitated in the temporary village and
directed by Pierre and his wife Antoinette.
In 1980, Peter was joined by his son Philippe, who had proven success
at restaurant Boyer in Reims, at restaurant Bocuse in Mont d’Or, and at
restaurant Cochon d’Or in Paris.
Today, Philippe has taken over the family farm with his wife Simone,
manager of the restaurant since 1980. Passionate and creative, his
cuisine combines finesse with Alsatian culinary tradition and Grand
French Cuisine.
Relationship
The
relationship between the house of Jean-Baptiste ADAM and the GAERTNER
family goes far back in history. The picture taken in 1955 shows Mr
Adam (middle) with Martin Gartner and Xavier Schueller.
For your benefit, they once again decided to work together in proposing
a recipe for each of Jean-Baptsite ADAM’s favorite wines.
Bon appétit, bien sûr !
